Better than The Walking Dead?

Posted by EnglishCaddy on August 27, 2014 at 1:30 PM Comments comments (0)

One of the most popular shows on television today is The Walking Dead on AMC.  Admittedly a great program with lots of good old-fashioned suspsense that immediately got me hooked to the point where I binge-watched the first 4 seasons in the period of one weekend.

Yet, is there better?

Many networks are jumping the Zombie bandwagon and focusing their plots on the same theme of survival in the face of persistent dire circumstances.  However the BBC has offered us a different take on the Zombie genre with a powerful series called, In the Flesh.

This series focuses on the post-post zombie apocalypse, where a cure has been found and new problems face society, such as the reintegration of PDS sufferers (Post Deceased Syndrome).  In a world recently ravaged by the risen dead, this is not going to be easy.

The characters are rich!  Deep! Relatable! Believable!

This drama is completely character driven and rarely has television produced such well written characters as In the Flesh.  The story is centered around Kieren - a remorseful PDS sufferer undergoing treatment who will be integrated back in his small (minded) town in England.

That's all I dare say.

Since with all good dramas there are many twists and turns to the plot, so instead of risking any spoilers I would simply invite you watch the show for yourself.  Season one consists of only 3 episodes and Season 2 only six.

So is In the Flesh better than The Walking Dead?  If you're looking for a zombie drama, with excellent dialogue, well developed characters, plausibiltiy, and a unique storyline, then the answer is a resounding YES!

Keep your eye out for this excellent series on dvd!  Until then, try these links...
